Kallang Park Connector links Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park to Kallang Riverside Park. It is part of the National Parks’ Central Urban Loop. For this trip, you can also start at Lower Pierce Reservoir and cross over and then move through Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park and then down all the way to Kallang. It takes you through several residential estates in the Central region – Bishan, Toa Payoh, Potong Pasir, Serangoon, Bendemeer, Upper Boon Keng and Kallang. It is a most amazing walk and I highly recommend this as a must do of Singapore’s excellent Park Connector Network.
I wrote about a recent walk at the new Lower Pierce Reservoir Broadwalk. (https://www.patnotebook.com/lower-peirce-reservoir-park-and-lower-peirce-trail/).
I recently visited it as compared to my visit 11 years ago (in this article). It was really different from the past. It is a nice place to start your walk for this article too.
I will break this article up to two sections. Which is about the right hiking or walking distance for old men like myself. I will write about the walk from Bishan Park to Potong Pasir. I will then continue in another article about Potong Pasir to Kallang and then to Kallang Stadium.
Kallang Park Connector : Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park

For now, I am starting this walk from Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park.
Let’s get parking out of the way first.
You can park your car at the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park carpark at Sin Ming Avenue. It is pretty close to the upcoming Bright Hill MRT and opposite this car park is the excellent Two Chef tze char store. However, it is a relatively small open air car park so you might want to take note of that. If you fail to find parking here, then there is HDB parking opposite at the HDB blocks too.
Update in June 2023: This car park is NOW closed due to construction again. This time, the newly open Bright Hill MRT station will become an interchange with the future Cross Island line (CRL) and hence construction has taken over the car park. I said again, as the long suffering Sin Ming residents have seen this road dig and dig and dig and dig for so many years… all for national development. You might want to park at the Blk 407 area then.

From here, you are ready to start your journey into the beautiful Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park.

This is where the famous Stone Bridge of Bishan Park is too.

Did I mention it is a great quiet place to mediate in the morning 🙂

As you walk across the Bishan Park, you will notice the new Eunoia Junior College school campus.

Once you reach the “end” of the Sin Ming-side of the Bishan Park, you will need to cross the road to the Bishan-side of the Bishan Park. There are lots of construction of the North South highway at this point (May 2021) so you will have to be careful. There are no underpass. I think (and hope) there will be in the future.
And this is where you can see the magnificent Teck Ghee Vista too

This is basically your route so far then

Kallang Park Connector : Bishan to Braddell
At the end of the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, you will find a traffic line crossing to join the Kallang Park Connector at Bishan. The location is roughly at the RED ARROW head of my diagram above.

This section is newly done up. Very nice. It is from Bishan Stadium to BCA Building.

You can see beautiful condos. But more importantly a very well designed river side walk.

The community deck at this part is very nicely done up and provide a nice spot to rest.

And why are Bishan HDB flats all so nicely painted. Beautiful !!

You can see the BCA Building coming up.

And a whole new bridge suitable for cyclists and hikers at the end of this walk.

This bridge is important as it crosses the very busy Braddell Road and provides you a way to get to the other side of Braddell Road to reach the next stage of PCN.

Not sure what they are building here as at May 2021.

Going down the bridge

So basically this is your route so far 🙂

Kallang Park Connector : Braddell to Potong Pasir
Now you are on the final stage of my article here. The walk from Braddell to Potong Pasir.
(Note that in 2023, I have updated this route with the new underpasses. Read about them here in this article.. Walking from Toa Payoh to Kallang in 2023)..

Nicely at the end of this park, is a underpass (Under The Central Expressway CTE) to reach over to the other side of CTE leading to Potong Pasir.

Appearing at the other side of the CTE, you will now reach the outskirt of the Potong Pasir Area.

And you can see why the upcoming condo, The Tre Ver, is so popular. It is right next to a Park Connector (PCN) and is very quiet area too.

I will stop around this area close to the end of this walk where you have to cross a pedestrian crossing. This is at Potong Pasir Avenue 1.

You can then easily grab a taxi or call for a grab car (block 120 Potong Pasir) to fetch you back to Sin Ming Avenue.

This is the last part of this route so far

Kallang Park Connector : Bishan to Potong Pasir Distance
According to my Runkeeper app, the walking distance from Bishan Park to Potong Pasir is about 6.72km

Kallang Park Connector : Potong Pasir to Sports Hub
You can read about how I walked the second part of Kallang Park Connector from Potong Pasir to Kallang and then to Sports Hub here.
