MacRitchie Reservoir Yellow Trail Hike is the one trail I always wanted to do. I did it together with some of the new boardwalks that are along the original Yellow Trail.
Table of Contents
As you can see from the NPark web site, there are a few trails you can do. But the Yellow Trail is the one that loops around the whole MacRicthie Reservoir so that’s the one I wanted to try out.
All in all, including the broad walks along the way, it took me 3 hours to complete the 12 km trail.
Parking at the MacRitchie Entrance area is relatively easy and many lots are available early in the morning.
Good morning MacRitchie Reservoir
A little history lesson is good π
Let’s start from here.. the famous maze…
Lornie Trail and Chemperai Broadwalk
After completing the maze and carrying on walking, soon you will see the start of the Lornie Trail..
It does look welcoming π
And then you come to this..
It is a nice short walk through the forest till you come to this…
And then this… looks like at the time of writing (Nov 2021), the Lornie Trail is closed and you have to walk to the Chemperai Broadwalk
The Broadwalk is just next to this..
Nice to walk along the MacRitchie Reservoir..
The Leaning Tree of MacRitchie
Funny tree.. the leaning tree of MacRitchie …
Nice to see the National Park making an effort to keep the tree ! π
It is really nice to walk along the MacRitchie Reservoir with the help of the Chemperai Broadwalk
After a walk, you can see the part where Lornie Trail would have joined back the walk..
Jering Broadwalk
We then join to Jering Broadwalk, which is really just an extension of the
Jering Boardwalk
It is NOT a long walk actually before we hit the grounds along Singapore Island Country Club Golf course.
Singapore Island Country Club Grounds
A nice walk through the forest then …
You will hit the Singapore Island Country Club Golf Course
Very different views from the forest walk just now..
As if you need reminder that you are in ELITE grounds..
And saying bye to Singapore Island Country Club Golf Course… you are going to reach the Jelutong Tower…
Jelutong Tower
After leaving the grounds of the Singapore Island Country Club (and into Golf Link), you can see the Jelutong Tower.
This is about the 5km point of the trail already.
Take a rest at the foot of the Tower as the walk up the tower can be pretty daunting. At least to a 50 year old man like me..
But you will be treated to nice views when you reach the top !
A wide view..
A similarly nice place you can visit in the future is the Rifle Range Nature Park where you can also enjoy a great view at the top of the quarry.
But for now, take a rest at Jelutong Hut π
After leaving the Jelutong Hut, you will come to this cross junction. Take the right. I think the left leads to another part of the route leading to Rifle Range Road.. maybe another day I will try it..
Sime Track
You are now on Sime Track…..
Tree Top Walk is still closed !! But in April 2024, I did walk to the Treetop Walk when it was opened again. Read about my walk to MacRitchie Treetop Walk.
From this point onwards, you are in the jungle area of the MacRitchie Reservoir Yellow Trail.. lots of green, lots of jungle walk.. you will enjoy your music (in your earphones..).
Terentang Trail
A short walk later, you will see the Terentang Hut
And because I am a Virgo, I will join the Terentang Trail as it is part of the Yellow Trail…
And then join back the Red Trail… which leads out to the road.. before going back again to the jungle.. weird..
When you join back the jungle trail, you will then turn right.. if you go left, you go to Windsor Nature Park which is nice too.. I had my chance to walk there once..
MacRitchie Nature Trail
You are now on the MacRitchie Nature Trail
It will be jungle trail walk all the way..
When you come to Rambai Hut, you are almost ready for the next Boardwalk …
Petai Broadwalk
At this “junction”, you can take the right to Petai Broadwalk..
It is a Broadwalk because you are back to the side of the MacRitchie Reservoir again… π
And at certain parts of this Broadwalk, you can see such GREEN waters..
And as you finished Petai Broadwalk, you reach Prumus Broadwalk.
Prumus Broadwalk
Prumus Broadwalk is just like Petai Broadwalk so nothing special here.. π
And the end of the trail is close..
And as you reached the end of Prumus Broadwalk, you. can see the entrance to the trails which does not involve the Prumus Broadwalk..
Nice view of the MacRitchie Reservoir
Total Length of the MacRitchie Reservoir Yellow Trail Hike
The total length of the walk is about 12.4 km and it took me 3 hours….
