In Hong Kong just this week and had a nice hike at Dragon Back. But for now, let me share a short hike called Scenic Hill Hike 觀景山 in Hong Kong. It is very near to Citygate Mall which is where my favourite Hong Kong hotel, Silveri Hong Kong-M Gallery Hotel is.
In fact from my hotel room, I can see the Scenic Hill !

What is the Scenic Hill in Hong Kong
Embarking on a Scenic Hill Hike offers visitors a chance to explore the highest point on Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong. Standing at 77 metres (253 ft) above sea level, Scenic Hill (Chinese: 觀景山) is not only a favorite hiking spot but also a prime location for aviation enthusiasts who gather near its summit at the Chinese pavilion to photograph aircraft landings and take-offs from Hong Kong International Airport.
Interestingly, Scenic Hill became the island’s tallest natural landmark after taller surrounding mountains were removed during the airport’s land reclamation project in the 1990s. A Scenic Hill Hike promises both panoramic views and an engaging experience for nature lovers and plane spotters alike.
How to get to the Scenic Hill ?
It is very easy if you are staying at the Silveri hotel or the Novotel City Gate Hotel. Or if you are not staying near, you will take the MTR to Tung Chung Station, which is currently the last stop of the on the Tung Chung line. As the western end of the Tung Chung line, it is also a transfer point of those wishing to use the Ngong Ping Cable Car and by bus to the rest of the Lantau Island (which is a great place to go to for the Wisdom Path in Lantau Island).
At Tung Chung MTR, get out of the station to go to Citygate Mall. However, do not go into the mall (you should go to the mall.. amazing shopping !). Instead, keep left …

and you can see this signboard….

In this notice board, you can see how to get to Scenic Hill but let me help you 🙂

Cross the road that comes up.. it is near to the Cable Car Station but you are not going into the Cable Car station..

In this photo, it is the BLUE ARROWS pointing the way.

So cross the road and then walk down the path and very quickly you can see this well paved pavement..

At the end of this pavement, you will see a bridge and find your way UP TO THE BRIDGE. The way to reach it is to BEHIND this building on this picture.

And on the bridge, you can see our beautiful Citygate and Silveri hotel.

But for now, concentrate on walking down the bridge.

Once you reach the bottom of the bridge, you will want to go to the LEFT SIDE, the yellow path.

Walking down this path called Tung Chung Waterfront Road

You will then join the bridge over the water.

And on the bridge, you can see the Scenic Hill of Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Airport Cherry Blossom Garden
At certain times of the year (the colder months), you will also see a signboard pointing to The Hong Kong Airport Cherry Blossom Garden. In fact, in the link above, you can see the map on how to get to The Hong Kong Airport Cherry Blossom Garden and hence the Scenic Hill hike 🙂

I did not visit the Garden as my purpose is to do the Scenic Hill Hike. But as I was walking back, I can see the Garden from a distance.

But you don’t even have to go over to the The Hong Kong Airport Cherry Blossom Garden. Right next to the road you were walking, you can also see Cherry Blossoms !

And more Cherry Blossom…

Will be better at the right months. It was April when I was there.
Anyway, walk on and you will see a sign telling you to go up to Scenic Hill !

The Scenic Hill Hike
It said 500m but it is going to quite a hike UP and UP the stairs and paths.
Take your time. It is a walk UP and UP 🙂

Where you can come close to the Cable Car Station 🙂

And then more up and up.. the path up reminds me of the Garden Hill hike in Kowloon…

And then rocky path but easy to walk lah..

You will also be treated to the great view of the Citygate Mall.

As usual, a marker will tell you that you reached the summit of the Scenic Hill 觀景山.

Walk on a little, and you will reach the Pavilion of 觀景山 or 觀景台 !

The view of Hong Kong Airport from the Summit of Scenic Hill
Of course, you came for the views of the Hong Kong International Airport from the summit of the Scenic Hill !
And on a clear day, you will not be disappointed.

You can even see clearly and quite close the airplanes taking off !

You will catch many planes taking off in the mornings

It is not just the airport you can see. Basically around the island..

And the Tung Chung Bay…

Another part of Tung Chung.. I will love to stay there…

How long is the Hong Kong Scenic Hill Hike
From my iPhone it is just 1.42km from Tung Chung MTR. Not too far. Just a little tiring for the walk up the hill. But then I have done Dragon Back Hike so what’s this 🙂

And I saw this statue in my hotel room in Silveri Hong Kong hotel. Yes, indeed to remind you to hike at the Scenic Hill which is just 1.42 km from the hotel 🙂
