Back in October 2024, I did a walk from Labrador Park MRT to West Coast Park. It was not too exciting a walk but I ended up at West Coast Park. Today I am continuing my journey from West Coast Park to Buona Vista MRT via West Coast PC (Park Connectors), Pandan Gardens PC and finally the beautiful walk along Ulu Pandan PC.

The walk from West Coast Park to Buona Vista MRT
The whole journey is 9km long. Here’s a map of West Coast Park to Buona Vista MRT via the Park Connectors Network (PCN).

Stage 1 : West Coast Park to Pandan Gardens PC

From West Coast Park, cross the West Coast Highway (the road in front of West Coast Park) to start your journey along the West Coast PC. If you look closely at the PCN map, it showed that you should cross the road to start the PCN route.

It is a pretty uneventful walk along the West Coast Highway (road) which takes you past a few HDB blocks, including these very new ones (Blk 715 Clementi West St 2).

I love see this sign 🙂

As you walk along this PCN, you will see sign pointing you TOWARDS Pandan Reservoir.

No doubt we are at the West Coast PCN

You will walk past the construction site for the West Coast MRT station of the Cross Island Line. Still the PC path is well take care of and properly managed.

After that you will come to a very busy road so be careful as you cross the road. The Japanese Schools will be there AFTER you cross the road.

You can’t get lost. It is a straight road.

The Japanese Schools….

Soon you will come to yet another busy road crossing called West Coast Vale

You will then pass next to Singapore National Cricket Ground and you can see the beautiful new condos of Twin View in the distance.

You will then come to Pandan River.

This marks the end of the West Coast PCN.
Stage 2 : Pandan Gardens Park Connector to Ulu Pandan Park Connector
At the Pandan River, you can either take one of the sides of the River. I prefer the further away (I guess that the original Pandan Gardens Park Connector), which is the RED line in this map.

Which is next to Block 408 HDB Pandan.

The sign say 7.2km to Jurong Lake Gardens. Maybe one day I will try 🙂 But we are definitely going this way.

Just walk down this simple straight PC..

Until you reach the end. It is a very short walk of only 400m.

At this point, you will have walked about 3.5-3.6km from West Coast Park.

You will see a very new cycling bridge which will allow you to cross safely over the AYE expressway. Great job !

We are going to the Ulu Pandan PC on the RIGHT SIDE (not the LEFT SIDE which leads to Bukit Batok Nature Park and Bukit Batok PC. I am going to do that route some day).
This Google Map showed the route we are taking.

Hello AYE ! 🙂

As you reach the end of the bridge, walk down the stairs

And then turn right..

And in this photo, the entrance to OUR walk to Bouna Vista is on the RIGHT… under the bridge.

Stage 3 : Ulu Pandan Park Connector to Buona Vista MRT
Welcome to Ulu Pandan PC.

This is the toughest part of the walk today. About 5km from the start of Ulu Pandan Park Connector to Bouna Vista MRT.

But it is worth it. It is amazing to walk along the river (Sungei Ulu Pandan) all the way to Bounda Vista MRT.
Here we go…

A little walk and you will reach a fitness corner.

I would want to stay at these condos, starting with Waterfront @ Faber.

It is a nice walk and you can see some people maybe taking photos of birds with their amazing cameras.

No doubt the name of the River …

Basically this walk is so nice as you are just walking along a PCN along a river… quiet and peaceful..

Lovely morning hike…

You will then come to a nice part where you can come close to the river.. before crossing under Commonwealth Ave West.

You will then next come to the HDB area.. which includes some really nice (million dollars to be) BTO flats. I will love to stay here.. facing the river ! Clementi NorthArc ?

How many HDB flats can claim to be right next to a PCN ? Oh yes the flats at Dawson area at Alexandra PCN too.

Just carry on the walk and enjoy your hike.

Old Jurong Railway Line Bridge
Your walk will also bring you to Old Jurong Railway Line Bridge ! I did not know of this bridge. Pretty cool !!

Look at the support for the Bridge…

A little history lesson.. apparently this bridge is part of the Jurong Heritage Trail…

Read…

Moving on… you will come to Clementi Road…

Crossing over Clementi Road
Now there is a busy Clementi Road to cross. You can use the pedestrian crossing or you can follow my kia-su style and use the overhead bridge 🙂 Which is on your right as you reach Clementi Road.

From the bridge you can see the pedestrian crossing.

Once you reach the other side of the road, you can see a fitness corner and easily join back the Ulu Pandan PCN.

See the staircase at the end of this fitness corner ?

And welcome back to Ulu Pandan PC…

And from here, you will just walk all the way to Buona Vista MRT 🙂
There is actually a chance to “exit” the PCN walk to Dover MRT if you want to at around half way..

Else it is just keep walking…. now is not the time to give up…
Such Nice houses along the way..

Finally you will see these new BTO at Ghim Moh too..

Reaching Buona Vista MRT
When you see this sign board of the Ulu Pandan PCN, you know you have reached the end of the PCN walk. In fact it invites you to walk to Kent Ridge Park (which I have done a walk at this blog post : Kent Ridge Park : From HortPark to Kent Ridge MRT)

Cross the road and say hello to Star Vista or Buona Vista MRT 🙂

You can always go to Star Vista and grab a breakfast and then take a GRAB taxi back to West Coast Park to pick up your car.

Or consider buying a new launch condo unit at Blossoms by the Park or The Hill @ One North which are BOTH near to Star Vista 🙂 So it make it easier for residents to go for PCN walks at Ulu Pandan PCN or Kent Ridge Park 🙂
Total Distance of the walk from West Coast Park to Buona Vista MRT
The total distance of my hike from West Coast Park to Buona Vista MRT is 9.01 km that took me 2 hours to complete.

I love how it is almost a circle loop.

Conclusion of the Hike
This is a great hike from from West Coast Park to Buona Vista MRT is 9km. The West Coast PC is not much of a scenic walk but the Pandan Gardens PC is not bad (but short). If you want to skip these two, you can consider starting right at Ulu Pandan PC which is the highlight of the walk today. To do that you can park at 402 Pandan Gardens, Singapore 600402.
The walk of Ulu Pandan PC is really nice and worth your time any day ! Do it.
Also, I realised that with this walk today, I have almost completed all the PCNs in the southern part of Singapore.

You can also read about my Eastern Part of Singapore PCN (half of it at least….) in several other blog posts. I should complete the other 1/2 but not the Crazy Changi Costal PC (cannot be done by walking… maybe cycling)..
You can read about my Eastern Part in these blog posts… Bedok Reservoir to Kembangan MRT, East Coast Park to Bedok PCN, Siglap PCN to Kallang, Tanjong Rhu PCN to Keppel Marina East Desalination Plant etc.

Time to conquer the rest 🙂
