Tin Horse Highway is one of those weird things in travel. You heard of it (see this link for best description and download this map for best information) and you wondered if you should go. When you finally go, you go like “Wow” and then you wondered about why did you even go.
That probably summarised my visit to this Tin Horse Highway. Something you will do once in a life and never again 🙂
It is a detour from the main route to Wave Rock (from Perth). As you can see from this google map, just after Corrigin (a nice small town again which you can spend some time picking up groceries if you want or have a meal or just relax in its park), you will watch out for the exit to Kulin.
(Blue line is normal route to Wave Rock. Red line is the detour to see Tin Horse Highway).
From there on, you will start to see the Tin Horse Highway…. here’s the start..
Ok.. first they are not just horses. There are all kinds of creations made from metal parts and placed along the side of the roads. Do be careful as you slowed down to look at them or stopped to take photos with them.. I was very lucky. It was weekend and very quiet… I could literally just stopped in the middle of the road…
The very first “Tin Horse” you probably will see (if you are coming from Corrigin) are these… Not exactly tin horses, right 🙂
But then, the tourist information never tell you something… INSECTS !!! Flies and all kinds of insects will come to you once you come out of your car/campervan and they are all over !! After 1-2 stops, you will just give up and stay in the car to take photos….
It is good fun, actually.. I quite enjoyed the Tin Horse Highway.. 🙂

If anything, the drive from Perth to Wave Rock are full of such roads with nice relaxing views.. a holiday as it should be.
And all these little towns (such as Corrigin, Kulin etc) really reminds me of the Walking Dead towns. Jokes aside, these are great places to have a meal or a rest or to fill up your petrol or pick up groceries etc. And apparently Kulin has a very big swimming pool but I did not have time to check it out.
